Eagle's Nest, 2024
Completed in September 2024 at Dr. Owen Lloyd Knox Elementary School, Los Angeles, California
Lead muralist and project director: Janeth Aparicio Vazquez
Wall Dimensions:
Front - 19.83' x 7.83' ft.
Side - 8' x 7.83' ft.
This mural project was supported in part by the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures through a grant from the NALAC fund for the Arts.
Depicted: California Coastal Sunflower field. Sunflowers are known to remediate soils by reducing toxic metal levels present. The hope is that this designator for the Eagle's Nest space serves as a focal point where students can similarly remediate any feelings they no longer want to carry, that this visual sunflower field will restore them to equilibrium.
